USB Mass Storage- Device Driver Error !!!
Hi,
I recently bought an external Hard Drive USB 2.0 at eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
When I plug it in, it says "There was a problem installing this hardware and it might not work properly." I go to Device Manager and i got an error message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
I tried to install the drivers came with the hard drive. However, those drivers are only for Win 98!!! It has no updated drivers on its web-site..
http://www.cintreusa.com/XGear_details.asp
I tried to call them, but nobody picked up the phone.. they never reply to my emails....
What should I do??? HELP!!!
(I am using an eMachine computer, USB 2 I believe, Win XP SP2.)

There are no drivers required for XP. Do you have external AC power connected to the drive? The USB port cannot handle the power requirements of an external drive.
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

Sometimes these drives need to initialised. This is normally done in the Disk Management section (ie right click "My Computer" then "Manage"). You may then need
to create a partition and format it preferably in NTFS.
