no sound device
I had my pc reformatted and they didnt install the sound driver I am running a hp pavillion 532 W with xp pro it tells me device is not installed can someone please tell me where to get it at I have gotten it before I am just not sure where and when I try to downloading a few it told me they were not right

Hmmm, oddly enough, HP does not even list an audio driver for that machine. Is it an actual sound card, or is it onboard? - Do you have original HP cd's that came with the machine?

Bad news is that HP does not post the original drivers. I believe this is what you need: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

I dont have the regular cds I bought this pc from a person and I have had the problem before and I know I can get a sound driver somewhere just not sure where and it didnt have anything to do with the sound card itself

the realtek download tells me that only window 64x is supported so it wont work

You selected the wrong one. You want the fourth one down which reads "Windows 98Gold/98se/Me/2000/XP/2003"

i tryed that one also and it shuts down my pc everytime I try to download it maybe its cause I am running xp pro I have no clue

Sounds like you have more problems than just the sound. Suggest you bring it back to the shop that did the reformat/reinstall and have them do the job right.

I figured it out and thanks to all that tried to help me, just had to figure out what sound driver went to this pc but thanks too all that helped me
