Acer Aspire 3002LMi - Partition ?
I am thinking of buying the Acer Aspire 3002LMi, I have noticed that it comes with the hard drive already partitioned into two sections, does this matter?
The full size of the hard drive is 80gb, would the computer run any better with the hard drive re-formatted back to a single section or to continue as two separate partitions?
What are the pros and cons of partitioning of an 80gb hard drive on a laptop?
Help would be appreciated.

Having it as two partitions is handy, as, if you ever need to re-install the OS, you can put all your files in the second partition and not worry about losing them.
Also with larger drives, having more than one partition helps keep things tidy and improves access speed of files.
You have to remember thought that partioning a single hard disk doesnt mean that you have two physical hard disks and as such if there is a physical fault on your hard disk, it can affect both partitions.

Mostly its just a good practice to have at least 2 partitions on your pc/laptop, one for the operating system/applications, and the other for data.

dont change the partitions
i have a acer travelmate 4000, great laptop btw
i fdisked the hard drive and discovered that acer actually has a 3 gig hidden partition, anyway i deleted it, bad move
this partition is required for the recovery discs to work, so i could not install the win xp pro that came with the lappy
i had to install my own copy of xp home, but now i have one big partition plus 3 gigs

Yes some vendors keep a hidden partition just for the restore/recovery files. Its not a good idea to remove them, unless you know what youre doing, and can reinstall the OS and drivers/applications later on properly
