    Computers lose video

We've got several computers with MSI Km2m and Km4m boards. We've had some of these machines lose the onboard video after some months of use. The peculiar thing is that connecting a different monitor seems to solve the problem. The rejected monitor works fine on other computers. Any ideas as to why this might occur?

What monitor types where they - makes/models please...
It could be something as daft as a dodgy cable or plug...

Had a call a while back to a local company with a similar problem. all the base units were identical fujitsu's but the monitors were various LCD's.

Turned out that one member of staff had been "playing" with resolutions, putting the some of the screens out of range...

Simple in the end but it did take a bit of the Sherlock Holmes to get there!!!

NooNoo, they are mostly KDS of various model numbers. I can't buy the cable/plug idea since as I've swapped boxes, monitors around they all work.

Having someone set the screen resolution out of range is a real possibility. I've been dumb enough to have done that myself on at least one occassion. I didn't think of that one.

Oh the dodgy plug is a real possibility - I have seen it - each move moved the pins slightly so it made contact, then it didn't then it did... arrgh... but I grant you - unlikely on a spread of monitors.
