    Question Which HDD has longetivity and long term usage

    I was just wondering which Hdd lasts longer for long frequent uses with the computer not being turned off. I had a Maxtor before and it died in like 6 months so I decided to switch to Western Digital and everything was smooth sailing. I don't know about Seagate and there quality though cause the price is pretty cheap compared to WD hdd's. Should I stick with WD or go for Seagate. Whats its pros and cons between the two brands. I just sorta gave up on Maxtors ><

    Seagate are my personal favourites, others will swear by WD... but I think the bottom of the heap are fujitsus... and maxtors are a bit patchy. Just bought a samsung - will see how that goes.

    Here we use Seagate, Samsung or WD. For smaller drives (40Gb or less) at the moment we can only get Maxtors.

    As Noo said, but also add IBM/Hitachi "Deathstars" to the iffy range - some seem to last well but all too many seem to fail prematurely.

    Seagates are awesome I have had and sold both ide ones and sata ones and I have no complaits.
    Used a number of samsung's because they retained the 3 yr warranty when all the others dumped for 1 year

    Seagates here too....they're known for they speed and reliability especially in servers..not to mention the desktop drives now come with a 5 year warranty. You can't beat that.
