hi again everyone,

i'm having problems 'sharing' some video files through itunes for winxp on the office network. while i already placed the files in a shared folder for everyone to download, i thought it would be better if everyone with an itunes on their pc's could watch the video.

no problem importing the video files (mpg) into the itunes library and making a shared playlist out of the videos. even the other pc's on the network running itunes were able to 'see' the shared folder and the video file list.

problem is, once the 'remote' pc's try to play the videos, they just won't play. zero. zilch. nada.
at first i thought that the videos were too big but it was not the case. the individual video files were about 2mb on the average, though 2 of the biggest files were 7 and 13mb respectively. even then, i could not even play the smallest file, about 700kb. heck, itunes could process much larger mp3 files.
tested the files using quicktime. they played okay.
tried tweaking firewall settings, even disabling them temporarily on the host and the other networked pc's. nothing.
funnier was that on the host pc, the video files played within itunes.

but other than this quirk, all our pc's can share mp3's on our itunes.

here are the specs for the host and 'test client' pc's:

host pc:
pentium 4 1.7ghz, 256mb, running winxp sp2
itunes 6.0.2
security software include avg antivirus and zonealarm, both updated

test client pc:
celeron 2.6ghz, 512mb, running winxp sp2
itunes 6.0.2
security software include avg antivirus and zonealarm, both updated

even tried using an ibook g4 with the latest version of itunes. same problem - can see the shared playlist, but can't play the files.

again, any suggestion or input will be definitely welcome <img>
