compaq presario notepc display
hi,
I am based in India.I have a presario X1030 notebook with me.
A week agao as I shut down the machine and tried to restart after 2hours it just won't start.Th OS was loadind but was showing no display.
I showd to one repair person who brushed up the machine and it started working fine.
However, just after 2 hours of working the same problem occured and till date the dipaly has not been rectified.
I am being told that the display IC on mother board has gone kaput and that the IC was not available.
Someone told me we also have composite IC's that can be used inplace of older ones.
Can someone help me in telling me what and why this has happened to my notebook.
Otherwise all other parameters of the machine are fine.
U can mail me at: [email protected]

Take it back to the same reparier that fxed it last time and speak to him. If you paid money for it to work for two hours then i would have an issue with that. Is possble he knows exactly what is really wrong with it and maybe able to fix it and stop it from reoccuring.
Also if you are in India it might not be viable to purchase parts from the US

i told the same to my technical guy, he wants to know if the graphics card in onboard the interface board that u are offereing. My machine has mobility radeon9200 graphics IC, that is what is probabaly causing the problem.

I don't believe CCT is offering to sell you that part - he was just linking you to a reseller who does.
And from the looks of it (and the low price), that is just an interface board and does not contain the actual graphics controller.

The way to tell if the grraphics board is bad is to hook up an external monitor and then power the unit on. If it display's fine to an external monitor, then the graphics board is ok, just the Inverter board which CCT has already posted a link for.
