Ken Lay is dead.
Wow! It is almost surreal: the ex-Overlord of Enron dies of a heart attack, prior to sentencing. The government is going after him (his estate, now) for $43 million in ill-gotten gain. If it wasn't for all of the lives which were destroyed in the wake of Enron's implosion, I could almost feel bad for him.
I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.

Billionaire dies right before sentencing.... Anyone else think this should be really well investigated?

I know several Enron employees of retirement age who had their entire investment in... Enron stock. So, all I can say is "Bye, Ken!". Why would anyone investigate? I think handing out an award would be tacky.

I should have made my point more clear. If he is gone that's all well and good. That being said, how difficult would it be for a billionaire to fake his death?
I just don't want this guy relaxing on a beach for the rest of his life.

Richard, if Kennie had died in a flaming plane/car/etc. crash, or fell over the side of a cruise ship, I'd worry too. But I think this is pretty clear. He be dead.

Nobody has mentioned that since he died without an appeal, dear Kenny's conviction has been vacated. He was never convicted, in other words. So, the dear wife gets to keep all the homes, the government will probably drop its attempt to recover the $43 Meg they were after and his reputation and legacy receive a fresh coat of innocence paint. Old Skilling is left holding the guilty bag all by himself.
If you ask me, Ken, age 62, was old school enough to fall on his sword, for the good of his family and his reputation.
I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.
