Toshiba Satelite M35X suspended boot
Toshiba satelite takes twenty minutes from power on till any kind of activity. The power light comes on but the screen stays black then suddenly it comes on after an extremely long period of time.I tried it with the old 40 gig then switched to a 60 gig and it still dose the same thing. I tried to reformat and it just froze with 33 minutes left till install was complete and hasnt done anything since.

I would start with a RAM problem, if not it could be the mainboard. If the laptop has more than one chip installed test with one chip at a time. If problem persists try to get some diagnostic software (sometimes available from the manufacturer) and test the system.

I tried the ram one at a time and even reversed their positions still the same. I left the laptop yesterday after it froze during the reformat & it was still frozen two hours later. If this helps I worked on this same laptop two weeks ago but for what I thought was an unrelated problem, the owner is an electrical engineer and tripped over the power cord on a job while in Fla. he had cracked the solder on the socket & I used a little silver solder to repair, the laptop worked fine for a week & a half before the screen started freezing.
CHEERS!
Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead!

Ouch that sucks. Then I would have to say it is very possible there is still some damage to the main board that could be the cause of the problem. One little broken electrical connection on the board is all it takes.
