    New to Linux

Hello everyone. I bought a Dell Optiplex gx60 from my friend. It was clean deleted. It previously had win2k. I am debating whether I should reinstall win2k or get Linux. But I have some questions first. Can Linux be clean installed? Which version of Linux should I get? Is Linux reliable? Ive always had window and I want to try something new. So if anybody has any advice or help, it will be appreciated. Thank you.

I have two suggestions. Knoppix is a version of Linux that you can run straight from a cd/dvd drive. It is a good way to start playing around with Linux without fully committing your hard drive. It will also show you if your hardware is supported, but with a computer as old as you describe, it should be no problem.

If you decide to take the full plunge, Ubuntu Linux has gotten very user friendly for novices.
