XP BSOD Memory Issues....
Dell Optiplex GX 620 SFF
P4 2.8
1GB Samsung DDR2 PC2 4200
ATI Radeon X600 Video
500GB WD SATA HDD
Ran fine, then I decided to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB RAM. Immediately started getting BSOD's from time to time, and lots of application crashes with the familiar send or dont send to MS. Every error code pointed to memory. The memory I added was a 1GB PC2 4200 DDR2 chip but it was made by ProMos. I know from experience that occasionally 2 sticks made by different manufacturers sometimes will cause a problem. I took the ProMos stick out, pc ran great. I went out and found an identical stick to what I had already. PC would get past BIOS but XP would never start, not even the load screen.I took the chip out put in a diff slot and it booted but as soon as the logon window appeared it bsod again. I took the chip out and has been running smoothly for 2 days now.
Here is some pastes of error codes from event viewer:
Error code 10000050, parameter1 e0620488, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 bfa30be0, parameter4 00000000.
Error code 10000050, parameter1 e35aa400, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 8054b05c, parameter4 00000001.
Error code 0000004e, parameter1 0000008f, parameter2 000401c1, parameter3 0002cfa1, parameter4 00000000.
Any thoughts? I haven't ran any diagnostics, not sure what to run.
Thanks

Have you tried running on the new stick alone? To see what it does by itself?
You could also run goldmem on it

You have two banks of two slots in that board. The bios is probably trying to run dual channel - check for bios updates and ensure that the same coloured slot is used in the second bank. Dell is pretty picky about memory... make sure the timings are set right.
Edit crucial says the pairs MUST match.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
