HP 8380 woes!!!
I have a Pavilion 8380 with the Asus p2B98-xv motherboard in it. I want to put the Asus BIOS on it, but has anyone done this successfully? The phoenix BIOS sucks balls.

Welcome to Windrivers theguyfrompit
Why would you want to? These boards are made specifically for HP and it is very unlikely that Asus even have a bios that might be compatible.

What kind of problems are you having?
HP has a BIOS upgrade here for your Pavilion 8380:

Why?
The BIOS software that HP put in the 8380 is terribly limited- no options or adjustments. OH YEAH-- CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY MY BIOS SHOWS THE RIGHT TIME AND XP PRO SHOWS THE RIGHT TIME, BUT FRESHDEVICES SAYS MY SYSTEM TIME AND ACTUAL TIME ARE DIFFERENT. The CMOS battery had been dead a while, and I just replaced it but the PC's been plugged in the whole time and running.

...Yeah, everybody laugh it up, it's an old computer, but it probably runs better than most PC's its age. What's a good (by good I mean FREE) Monitor program for my Mobo? I googled around and saw that someone was using MBM5, but I can't get anything but my processor speed out of it. Is there a MoBo monitoring program for a Asus p2b98-xv?

No I mean fresh devices fill your spam box....
MBM5 is a great program, but any monitor program is only as good as the sensors built into the motherboard. Phoenix bios I agree isn't much good, but at the end of the day, mass produced PC's like your HP are designed for the consumer who only wants to know where the on switch is.
Sit down for a minute and think what you actually want to achieve with this PC, write these down. In the column next to it, write down why you want to do this. When you have justified it to yourself, post what you want to do and why and then we can be very specific.

Speedfan's a nice free program for giving temps of hdd, cpu, system etc
Picture yourself near a stream.
Birds are singing in the crisp, cool mountain air.
Nothing can bother you here. No one knows this secret place.
You are in total seclusion from that place called the world. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity. The water is clear.
You can easily make out the face of the person whose head you're holding under the water.
There now, feeling better?
