HELP - HP designjet 500ps
HI
We have a HP designjet 500ps
every time we turn the computer off at night information seems to be lost, every time we switch back on in the morning the printer won't work properly and we have to reinstall the drivers.
This was ok for 1 or 2 days but its getting to be a pain now after 2 weeks.
Does anyone know what it is doing this and how we can resolve it.
Much appreciated
Matt

Can you give a little more info?
What OS (Windows, MAC, ect.)Printer is designed for a MAC
How is it connected (Network, USB)
What type of info is lost?
Have you tried downloading the drivers from HP?

Good day black sheep
Thanks for your message.
The computer is a pc and runs windows XP, we have been using the printer for 5 yrs on another computer and this problem never occurred.
The printer is connected via a parallel serial port
I have spoken to HP technical and they emailed me the latest drivers.
When we install the drivers the printer works fine. then when we switch the computer off in the evening this is when the problem occurs.
When we switch the computer on the next morning and we go to print it starts to print and then it cut the print off or throws out a load of blank paper.
so to correct this problem we have to reinstall the drivers. we have to do this every day.
if you need more info, please let me know
cheers

What is the printer port set to in the bios? EPP? ECP? Bidirectional?
Do you necessarily have to turn off the computer at night? (quick fix)

the other question (to do with Ferrit question) Does the driver turn on the port and every time you turn off the computer the BIOS ,because it set to have this port off, keeps it off. So look at you BIOs and see if that port is turned on or off. I have never seen a driver do that but HP does do weird things sometimes.
