You have a memory stick or card reader and in the boot sequence it comes before the hard drive?

HP Boot Up
No, I don't think so. I have a printer(HP), a scanner(Lexmark), DSL modem, and an external hard drive, all USB. They have all been attached for years, but my problem start only recently. I have tried unplugging each of the USB devices in various sequence, but it will only boot after the last device is unplugged. I can then plug them back in and everything seems to work fine.

Shut down the machine and then start it up and press F1 as soon as it starts - this will take you into the bios setup menu.
Make a note of the current bios revision on the general page while you are then, then have a look through the various menus till you find the boot order. What is listed on the boot order please?
Also have a look for usb mouse and keyboard support and usb legacy support - are they enabled or disabled?
Have you recently updated the bios?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
