What baffles me more is the fact that the last time my system showed the "page fault in non_paged area" error windows was just starting. Isnt that error related to virtual memory ??
@OMGmissinglink

i will check that out
the pci.sys error occcurs once i try to repair my windows
i guess the XP CD i have is XP Pro without SP2
i have asked my frnd for the XP SP2 CD untill then i am trying to solve my other two problems

OK, I would start looking at the hard disk - full diagnostics available from the manufacturer and replace the cables to the hard drive and the cd/dvd drive.
You said every executable was corrupt, how about say a video file?

I need a solution
Hi, I'm the newest victim of the blue screen error:
0x0000007e (0xC0000005, 0xf748e0bf, 0xf78da208, 0xf78d9f08) pci.sys
I have a Dell XPS
Core 2 Duo 2.33 Ghz
2 Ghz (667) RAM
160 GB SATA 7200 RPM HD Western Digital
Now, I've been threw the full diagnostic. My RAM is good, I've disabled
the Core 2 Duo to a single, I've tried to intall Win XP Pro and Win XP Pro SP1
and still have the blue screen.

Welcome to Windrivers Bnada
Did the Dell XPS originally come with Vista?
You need to install XP SP2 - you can slipstream SP2 into your XP disc using the instructions here
You will need the SATA drivers on a floppy disk or learn how to add them to your XP disk.

Thank NooNoo
Coincidentally, I found a website talking about slipstreaming about 35 minutes
after I posted my problem. The directions that the site gave me were some-
what confusing considering the instructions stopped in the middle and I had
to guess my way threw the rest. But, I guessed right. I just wanted to thank
you for responding so soon.

Welcome to Windrivers Sulaiman Kader
Exactly which version of XP are you using. If it's XP with Service Pack 1 or just XP, you will have to create an XP SP2 cd.

I just finished putting brand new hardware in my mother's work computer (old 2.2Ghz P4 we built 7 years ago), and I was very surprised to find the same error pop up on my screen as the OP.
*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF748E0BF, 0xF78DA208, 0xF78D9F08)
*** pci.sys - Address F748E0BF base at F7487000, DateStamp 3b7b855c
The desktop I have now I built a year after we built my mother's system, and the OEM XP Pro disc I got for it is exactly the same as hers (except for the CD key), but I've reformatted and replaced hard drives in my system numerous times and not once have I seen this error appear until just now. I slipstreamed SP2 and tried it again, but the same error came up; I've been through the BIOS and everything looks good, and I even removed all the extra PCI cards just to see if that was triggering it but came up with squat. If we didn't have her origional hard drive with her origional data and windows parody this would be a major issue, but thankfully I can just plug her old drive in and she can survive for now.
Is there anything else I need to be looking at to solve this issue? I saw you recommend a few others in this thread to check their memory and video, but they had a different error code than I did so I didn't know if I should as well. Thanks for the input in advance!!

help!
I just rebuilt my PC using all new hardware.
Biostar g31-m7 te motherboard
4gb ram
wd 500 gb hd
and purchased an OEM WinXP Pro SP2 disk. (lost my original XP Pro disk)
I have not formatted the hd yet, but I tried to install and keep getting the stop error you all are talking about. How do I fix this problem?
The PC is completely new with no software installed. Do I need to format my HD first or simply get the xp disk to install?
