Cannot sign into Vista
I edited the registry to get rid of some webroot remains as it would not uninstall. Now I cannot get into Vista. That is to say the password access comes up, but I cannot type into it..nothing happens.
System restore does nothing..the same condition prevails.
I ran UBCD and the keyboard is fine...does anyone have another clue.
I really need help..thanks

I would try booting into safe mode by depressing the F8 key repeatedly upon boot up, and seeing if that will allow access to repair the registry.

Thanks for replying. It still needs a password to get into the safe mode as well. He will be over this afternoon and can probably get in with the fingerprint ID.
I did back up the registry when I was working on the computer. I hope it has keyboard input on startup in.

Do you have a Vista DVD and have you tried booting from it and running the Startup Repair Tool? If it doesn't fix the problem and System Restore won't you might be looking at reinstalling Windows.

Also try last known good - sometimes works enough to get you in then you can repair the damage the uninstall did.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I tried last known good configuration twice with absolutely no luck. then I called Brad and he used his fingerprint reader (lucky), to get into safe mode, but the keyboard still would not work even though it showed ok in the control panel. I imported the export, restarted and no luck..it would stop before the log in screen. The computer reverted to windows startup repair, and in 5 minutes everything was back to normal. Thank Sigrieb for the idea !

Glad you are running, and we really appreciate hearing how it worked out. Thank you.
