Interesting
I finally got around to doing something with the RC copy of W7 I was given.
It didn't bluescreen during installation.
Installation went very quickly.
It starts quickly and runs quickly, even on an old P4 3.2 GHz with 3 Gb of RAM.
I have experienced no driver problems.
So far everything has been easy, excepty for finding where they have hidden all the interesting techie stuff (again).
What am I doing wrong here?

The tech stuff is there, just type in the search bar in the menu what you want and you can pull it all up.
Otherwise you seem to have had the experience that most people have had... kinda boring isn't it?

Your experience sounds about right to me House. I even installed RC1 over the original Beta just to see what would go wrong. Other than losing my Audigy2 temporarily, even that didn't mess up anything.
