Find the clear cmos jumper on the motherboard, clearing that will reset the entire bios and clear up your problem

Obtained a Dell that somehow has XP? Something here sounds more like a stolen laptop that's locked and it's for good reason. Contact Dell for assistance or perhaps the person you "obtained" it from for help. If you can verify the information required by Dell then they will be able to assist you on this.
