dvd not working
windows 7 home premium, 64 bit, I have 3 dvds in my system, none will work, they have yellow marks in device manager, tried deleting and redtecting to no avail, if i boot into vista or xp they are fine, any ideas appreciated
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Most likely, you're just suffering from a filter driver issue probably caused by some burning software that isn't very compatible with W7 64 bit. iTunes seems to be a frequent offender in this regard. Apparently even the 64 bit version doesn't play well with Windows 7; but of course it could be other software too. iTunes downloader is also reported to frequently misidentify Windows7 64 as the 32 bit version.
MS suggests uninstalling all burning software, then doing a registry repair, and reinstalling your software. Full article here.

deleted itunes and all burning software but no good, opted for full reinstall in end

Wow thats a little radical.
The Upper and lower filter removal likely would have fixed it
