What's Your Opinion On This 64GB Pen Drive?
Hi guys! I saw a 64GB pen drive on ebay called: 'Kingston 64GB DataTraveler 150 USB 2.0 Flash Drive.' The description says it supports SP1 and SP2. But, I got XP SP3. Do you think it supports SP3?
As a side note, I contacted the seller. He said it should work in SP3. He also said that the pen drive might have been released before SP3 was, which explains why the pen drive says it supports SP1 and SP2. So, should I still get the pen drive? Do you think it'll work in SP3?

You are going to have to learn to do some legwork - Google and read.
eg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134834
Ask yourself why the Kingston US site doesn't list it?

If I were buying a 64 GB pendrive, I'd most likely buy this Patriot. Corsair would also be a decent choice. I have 4 Patriot XPorter drives of various sizes, and I've used a lot of Patriot memory in system builds. Good products and reasonable prices.

Why go to newegg.com or bestbuy to get a good reliable thumb drive when you can use ebay for quality products like this! I don't trust ebay for any electronics out there because of how many people are looking to con the buyers. You can save yourself the headache and money if you just go through the regular venues for electronics.
P.S.
Here is an article that may help you understand why I don't trust ebay sellers.
Tricks to fool buyers
Additionally, this wouldn't happen to be the drive you saw?

slgrieb, thanks for the info, but that pen drive you showed me is a bit too expensive for my blood. Thanks anyway.

clauded, thanks for the info and your opinion, but I have bought an 8GB pen drive before from ebay and it turned out to be a very good product.

Niclo Iste, thank you for your show of support. But, from all my 4 years of buying stuff from ebay, I've only had one complaint and that was over a shampoo. But, I am always careful from whom I buy products. I always look at the seller's current history and rating. I always make sure that he's not a phoney. Thanks man.

Yes, I once swore I'd never do it, but I'm finding a lot of my old fave sources for laptop parts and printer parts are stocking less and charging more. I think if you're careful about your vendors, Ebay is a decent place to shop. Last summer I bought a paper tray for an LJ4100 from a vendor for $60. The same refurbished tray from my regular vendor was $137.00. Buying from a store on Ebay is pretty much like using any other vendor; you need to spend a little time checking them out. Also, Ebay's policies are very much skewed in favor of the buyer at the seller's expense. And finally, if you use PayPal, that's a virtual ironclad guarantee of getting a refund in any dispute.

Lots of the 64 GB drives have had major problems, and there are very few that get consistently high reviews. The Patriot gets great reviews and is about the cheapest high-quality 64 GB drive around. Check out Corsair's pricing.
Personally, I don't have a pendrive with more than 16 GB capacity. By the time you've bought a 32 GB drive, you can buy a 500 GB external hard drive. If you buy one of the 2.5" units, you don't even need an external power source; they're powered off the USB port. They're bulkier, and require more TLC than a pendrive, but offer lots more capacity.
I use my pendrives mostly to transport diagnostic and repair tools (which on a 16 GB drive leaves me with about 98% free space), sometimes move files or perform small backups. Large backups and data transfers are still strictly hard drive territory for me.

That's exactly what I was pointing out with the links I added at the end of my post. There are just so many ways for sellers to skim or rip you off that it's gotten to be a tiresome game for me.

Yes -it was supposed to be compatible.
However, the reviewers had varying degrees of success using that model of flash drive. The 150 series has been replaced by the 200 series as far as I can tell from their site and that tells you something as well.
As a last comment on this issue - flash drives are KNOWN to have a higher failure rate than external hard drives which have a higher failure rate than internal drives. 2 x 32 GB versus 1 x 64 GB would give you backup and a wopping amount of storage at 32 GB anyway.
