Post Clean up the cable mess...

We've all seen those magazine ads for the tubing that you can purchase to organize entertainment center cabling...

It seemed pricey, and when I looked at them, they seemed too thin to do the same thing for the dozens of different cables and wires hanging from my PC, dual monitors, sound system, peripherals.

I went to Sears, bought two lengths of 2" shop vac hose, cut off the ends, ran a slice down the length, color coded [with colored electrical tape] the ends of the cables where necessary, smashed all the wires into the slice on the hose...and it works like a charm! [The black color is a nice feature to make the whole thing blend in under the desk, too.] The wires, depending on how long or short they are, can be inserted and exited anywhere along the tube you want.

Looks good, keeps it all safe from my feet and the dogs running around under the desk, and easy to pull cable out of if necessary. And cheap!

I put hangers on my desk up underneath it and down the inside of the legs of the table to run my wires through. Keeps em outta sight and keeps me from tripping all over em and kicking em under the desk.

Duct tape could get a little messy under warm conditions.

Good suggestion, your mom's name isn't Heloise (as in "Hints from"), is it?

Good idea about the vaccuum hose. I've started using bicycle hooks to run large amounts of cable overhead. It looks a bit messy, but it makes it very easy to manage.

Sounds like a great idea. That would be cool to see some pics of it (duct tape and the vacuum hose).
