    Free Ashampoo software

Link. Beware, rumour has it that they may spam you, so you might want to use a throwaway e-mail addy.

I've been a long-term user of Burning Studio and Ashampoo Office, as well as various minor utilities of theirs. Always found them good to deal with. You can use a throw-away email addy or unsubscribe if you like, but I stay subscribed. They do send lots of "offers", but sometimes they throw in a real goody just to see if you're taking notice.

I was just suggesting, as I hate spam with a passion, both ethereal and the meat kind.

No problem at all with the suggestion, my friend! One possible advantage of an active email address is that the issue of the free registration sets up an account with Ashampoo, linked to the email address. Your account retains record of the registrations(s) issued to you and gives download links to the correct software version for re-download if ever required. If you have much of their software that can be useful.

The installers also offer a toolbar, which you can and IMHO should decline by unchecking the option during the install, and at first run the app will offer a news feed etc which also can be declined, and won't be offered again.

I've downloaded & test installed those programs, and the only thing I notice straight away is a few German words remaining in the system analysis report with WinOptimizer (Ashampoo is a German company). WinOptimizer also includes a registry cleaner, which I'd advise to be cautious about - benefits are questionable and if it does something wrong with the registry, Windows can be damaged.
