Darwin Award Nominee
Serpent-handling Pastor Dies From Rattlesnake Bite. Yes, one of those Pentecostal nut-jobs who thinks that handling poisonous snakes is a test of his faith has come up short.
These folks belong to a sect that believes in the literal truth of Mark 16:17-18 which says:
“And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Strange that serpent handling is popular in this context while drinking Drano and rat poison don't seem to be popular tests of faith.

I'll wait until I can suddenly speak another language before I even attempt any of that stuff! Also, it doesn't say "And they will take up deadly serpents... Or poisonous serpents... I'd easily handle a boa or corn snake.

Seems like people add and take away from the truth at will.
I would refer fools like this to the text in Matthew 4:7
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.
This can be found multiple times.

I'm just waiting for that group to push it to the next level. Maybe someone should suggest live hand grenades. For surely if their faith is strong enough it won't blow them up after they pull the pin.
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

Sorry, Niclo, no hand grenades in the Bible.

Inquisitioning people has an appeal - BEING inquisitioned isn't so appealing.
Thus, I will become a believer once such crap forces me to be religious.
Until then, God can take a hike!
