1: Have ghosted several blank HDD's to the full ones ...not good! Have since learned to hook up destination as a slave device somewhere.

2: APC power backup units - them batteries come CHARGED!!! was hooking one up, using needlenose to tighen screws down, ground hooked up fine, positive wire when I was tightening it down and the pliers hit the case, BZZZZT!! Made a good notch in the pliers.....kinda like an arc welder...

Thumbs down

For those who may have seen my post in Windows 2000, you would have known what I had done a few days ago. I killed my wife's partition on her drive that housed all of her MP3s by accident when I wasnt paying attention trying to install Win2K. Needless to say, I was in DEEEEEPPPP doo-doo!

Dumbest thing? Well i was rebuilding a old pc, one of those with the power button directly attached to the power unit.
Well the button is attached with four fastons, i smartly overlooked the colors of the cables, after changing the dead one with a new i press the damn button to see if it works and then KABBBOOOOOOOOOM!!! My whole company is Black Out. ops!

Done much the same but I switched the PC off to replace the switch forgetting that even though the switch was off the wires were still live. I took my trusty pliers out and removed 2 cables ok, but when I touched the 3rd cable there was an almight crack, the lights went off and I was left sitting there with a smoking piece of wire.

Could of been a crispy tech if I used my hand to remove the PSU spades instead of pliers.

I sneezed once while I was looking in the case and it was on.... Snot is obviously a conductor of electricity cuase the whole thing started smoking and sparking and then died. It was only a Pentium Pro 266 with some crappy specs luckily. I just built the person a new system and gave em free labor (almost free labor).
If you say the P3 is faster than the Athlon then I automatically know that you know nothing about computers or are on *ntel's payroll.

ROFLMAO! That sounds like something I would have done (10 years ago). Too bad it was not captured on video.

I had the pleasure of finding out what happens when you put the LCD wires on backwards (ground to live and live to ground)...
Amazingly enough I was able to turn to power off as soon as I saw the black smoke spewing out from the fan (this was an old AT system). A little electrical tape to replace the burnt off insolation and a quick reverse of the cable and everything was fine!

Also (last month ) at work I accedently did a hotswap with some memory . And again 'Amazingly enough' they system didn't even flinch! I noticed it was on and restarted it, wondering the whole time what Windows would of said once it tried to access that memory I pulled out
The thing worked fine after that too, no problems
...I don't get it...
