    Post I.T. assistant stands for..........

    Yo,
This was forwarded to me and evidentally somebody forwarded this to everyone in thier company and in thier address book. The person's title was I.T. assistant. That can't stand for what I think it does, does it. Even assistant would know to check validity. I am not the best or most experienced IT person in the world but one of the first things I learned (years back) is when you receive an email from an "expert" about a virus or other check it. Damn I never even forwarded a hoax from day 1. That's ashame because people are going to read and see the title, unless IT assistant stands for something else.

PLEASE READ AND DO THE FOLLOWING TO YOUR COMPUTERS!
We have just received a message from one of our contacts that our address
book had been infected by a virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) not detected by
Norton or McAfee antivirus systems. The virus stays quiet for 14 days
before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by the Messenger and
by the address book, whether or not you sent e-mails to your contacts.
We checked, found and deleted it. Now it's your turn!
    1. Go to Start, Find or Search option
    2. In the files/folder option, write the name jdbgmgr.exe
    3. Be sure you search in your C: drive
    4. Click "find now"
    5. The virus has a little bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe
    DO NOT OPEN IT

    6. Right click and delete it (it will then go to the Recycle Bin)
    7. Go to the Recycle Bin and delete it there as well, or empty the bin.
IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK
SO THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOKS.

I get this all the time, so thats why I made a whole section detecaded to virus on our intranet. It has every virus since 1999, hoax, and fixes. Information about virus's and the types.

We then anounce the virus on the front page of the intranet.

    For those "I.T. Assistants" <a href="http://www.europe.f-secure.com/hoaxes/jdbgmgr.shtml" target="_blank">requiring more information</a>
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Seriously I am at odds. Should I personally contact this person I don't know or just hope that my reply got back to him? I say let him figure it out and chalk it up to the learning experience.

Maybe the I.T. Assistant stands for Intellectually Troubled Assistant in this case??

The goal should be to make the offender ashamed to show his/her face in public for at least 48 hours. Public replies are preferred for this. Remember, spare the LART, spoil the user!
