Lightbulb Out like a light

We have this point of sale system running in a little bar and grill place in the middle of nowhere. Every night at just about 8:00PM they would loose the ability to run credit cards. After a couple of months of being thoroughly confused, the guy working on it asked, "What happens at 8:00?"

"Well, that's when we turn on the neon sign out front."

After a small remodelling job, somebody ran the phone line the credit card modem was on ACROSS THE SIGN'S TRANSFORMER.

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

This is going to sound kinda weird, but I keep my phone in an ankle holster. Sure fools the pickpockets, also distances it from vital areas, that I really don't want irradiating.

trust me, the cel phones today are very harmless, most of the signal strength comes from the twoer now, so the phone mainly acts like a walkman (and noone ever got paranoid about those frying somehting!)..

OK, so I'm just tetchy about what I put next to my brain and my bollocks, I don't want kids at the minute, but I'd rather not rule anything out.

The holster? I made it, like the matching one on my other ankle that holds my knife (yes, I can sew).

The chances of you shooting yourself in the *** are very small, and that's infinitely preferable to tucking it in the front. Even with the safeties on, the nose of a firearm poking you in the tabs is none too pleasant.
FAIR USE IS A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEDGE.

Athlon 1700XP, MSI K7 Master S, 512MB Crucial 2100, 2 × 18.2GB Maxtor Atlas 10K III, Bog-standard Geforce 2 Ti 64MB DDR, nice big Iiyama VMPro 452 and a SBLive! somewhere in there too, with the mother of all custom paintjobs on my spanking new Aopen H600A. And you wouldn't believe how stable 98SE/ME is on it!! 2K/XP however, now that's a different
    story... Damned ACPI!!
