[RESOLVED] Help me find my BIOS
One of my computers is an old 486. I`m looking to find info on the BIOS/M/B to see if I can flash the BIOS. Can`t find details anywhere. Can anyone help please. The ID String is:
40-0101-008036-00101111-121593-SIS471-F
It is an AMI 486DX ISA BIOS. The only other marking on the M/B is:
GMB486SGU1
Thanks

AMI 486DX ISA BIOS usually uses 512Kbit (something like ST27c512 IC)ultraviolet-erasable PROM (Programmable Read-Only Memory). Look on the cover of BIOS IC - where is special window for this operation, covered by sticker. It's not flash memory.
So it will be impossible to programming this memory using flash utility. You should have
erase content of this PROM first using special UV lamp, then burn this type of memory using special PROM programmator.
Use AMI identifier utility to identify Your'
MoBo manufacturer.
