Are you getting video? Usually that means no video card detected.

If your using an agp video card try a pci card, or sometimes memory not being detected is somewhat simialar of a sound.

The 'siren' type alarm normally means the Hardware Monitor is detecting abnormal voltage or heat levels, but it is normally continuos.

    Question

Have you checked the BIOS version and tried flashing to the newest version?

Maybe you just got a bad board

And One Long, 3 short is video, no idea what the 2 short means.

BTW: How's things at work today Jer? Things are slow here, just like every other day. My skills are going to use by cleaning cell phones with my left hand, and upgrading IBM ThinkPad BIOS' with my right

Oh yah, see you at soccer

this may help determine the problem:

but, as already stated, its more likely a video problem. Dont forget to try a different monitor...
Mr Miyagi, by any other name... (is this sig short enough?)
