I meant that the nic is working ok, it will let me hit the internet and all that fine. I bet none of the servers are responding (or are timing out) because i have the upload speed of a 28.8 modem, and yes that's on a good day.

What kind of connection do you have?

If you are on dialup (or ISDN with speeds close to dialup) step into the world of broadband and you wont have the problems.

If you got DSL or cable, you might want to think about a differant ISP. It sounds like your is pretty bad.

I said a couple posts back I am running starband, satellite connection. Download is nice but up is just **** . Me living out in the middle of nowhere (basically the middle of a field) doesn't help much either. Satellight is the only broadband anything that comes out here. So it's either dial-up or sat, since we get sat for the same price as dial-up and get download at around 400k, we went with sat

I must have missed the earlier reference to the satellite.

You want the good news or the bad news?

    The bad news....
If your upload aint $hit, you aint gonna get $hit for Quake 3 pings.

    The good news....
You are a member of The Windrivers forum! (It was the only thing I could think of)
If it aint broke, TWEAK it!
When in doubt, throw it out!!

Unfortunately with your present setup you are going to continue to experience difficulties with any type of real time –online games.

But at least you have killer download times which is better than straight dial-up. If I lived in area without broad band (I’d seriously consider moving) I would do the same.
