    Post Video driver problem

I have a custom built ATX system with a PC100
motherboard. Has a built in video card. Before my system crashed I was using Juno
lnternet and had great color. Afer formating and rebooting the whole thing I can only get 16 colors. Now with AOL and can't find a driver that will run 256 colors. Even the guy that built it can't figure it out. He says the system has the ability. Can anyone help??

i know this sounds simple, but have u installed the driver for you video card yet, or does it still say "Standard PCI VGA Graphics Card" in device manager? the drivers for it will almost certainly be on the cd you got with your motherboard.

If you have installed the drivers, it should be a simple case of changing the Colour Depth by opening the control panel, double clicking on display, click on the Settings tab. Then, click on the colours box, and use either 16 bit, 24 bit or 32 bit colour.

also, a little more info would be nice, like the type of graphics card.
Question of the Day: If it Micro$oft didn't exist, how much easier would our lives be?

Yes we tried all that yesterday but Wasn't
sure who the maker of the m.b. was. Now I know it is PC Chips. We tried all sorts of things including reinstalling Win98 and trying again.
The only time 256 colors came up was under Super VGA But windows could not find a driver
using the board cd or windows cd
    The board is a PC100 M599LMR with a built in 3d AGP graphics adapter(64 bit). <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">

okey doke. the graphics card should be an SiS 530, and this is the link to the driver on the pcchips webbie.

    ftp://www.pcchips.com.tw/driver/vga/win95/sis530.zip

just download that, unzip it to a temporary folder, and follow the instructions.
