    Post Monitor/Video card problems

    I have a Trident 9685 video card, model Providia 9685. I'm running Windows 98.
For some time now, my monitor has been giving me some worries.
It suddenly goes blank; but when I reboot, everything seems to be working fine.
Sometimes, I go on days without noticing anything; then suddenly it happens again.
Could anybody help me on this ?
    Thanks.

What about the System Standby option?
Have you checked it? Is it enabled, so your monitor automatically suspends when remains idle for some time?

I had the same problem once, and I thought it was the same problem that AlienDyne describes, but it wasn't. It turned out that the monitor was screwy and would sometimes not detect a VGA signal, so it would go into standby mode on its own. On every reboot though, it would work perfectly.
