    Resolved [RESOLVED] Voodoo 3/NEC Monitor problem

    Under Windows 2000, I attached an NEC E700 monitor to my Voodoo 3 video card. My system now has become corrupted, and during the booting up process, the computer now continues to go into a loop. I now cannot access windows. The system will work with a different monitor.

    THE MESSAGE THAT I RECEIVE DURING BOOT IS:

    Stop:c0000218{Registry File Failure}
    The registry cannot laod the hive(file):
    \Systemroot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
    or its log or alternate
    It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

    Any suggestions. Thank you. Ted

    If W2K is setup for a Plug & Play monitor, change it to a fixed 800X600 or 1024X768. Perhaps the NEC is sending a bad signal to the Plug & Play detection.
