Post My Geforce has problems with XP, even with the new det drivers

My e-geforce 256 32meg refuses to work with windows xp, even with the newest detonator drivers and it crashes anytime I try to play a game that uses full screen. Anyone hace an idea on a different driver to use or a possible cause to the problem?

What version of the drivers are you using?

    What games are you playing?

I am using the "Detonator XP v21.83 Windows XP/2000" drivers straight off Nvidia's website. I have tried to run Half-life, Homeworld, Starcraft, and a few others and every one of them cause my computer to lock up for several seconds then restart.

    I had the same problem:
*** Snip from my other post ***
I just read on the Microsoft support newsgroup that some guy's Nvidia problem went away when he reset his bios.
I figured, why not? and reset mine.
    >>>>> 3D APPS WORKED LIKE A CHARM! <<<<<<

Ok, now to tweak my Bios settings to see what caused the problem. You're not gonna believe this but my 3D apps fail when I set the system Bus speed over 100 Mhz.
    What???
I'm supposed to be running 133!
I suspect its stinking VIA problems.

Funny thing is my system worked like a charm under Win2K.

    What gives?

You reset the bios on the motherboard? I recently updated mine, but it was before I installed windows XP. I'm using a Freetech mobo so I suspect that it might be to blame for my problems, even though I'm not sure, because windows xp always says that it was the video card drivers that caused the lockup.

Lowering the FSB fixed my problem. I was running a FSB of 117 with a multiplier of 12 (1.4 Ghz) under Win98SE with NO problems. When I installed XP my 3D apps went wacky.
I first reset my Bios (FSB 100 multiplier 9 = 900 Ghz) and 3d apps worked. Wahoo.

After some tweaking I was able to get a FSB of 115 and a multiplier of 12 (1.380 Ghz) and things still work. I can live with that.

    BTW I have a 1.2 Ghz T-bird chip and a Abit KT7A Motherboard.
    Good luck.

My problem is similar to yours. I have a kt7a-raid and a tnt2 m64 pro video card. When I set my agp to 4x it would lock up in 3d games. If it runs at 2x then its fine. I believe (from what I have been reading on other boards) that it is a Via chipset problem.

Most unfortunately, my bios doesn't allow any alterations of processor speed or the AGP speed, and on the webpage for my motherboard the bios updates make no difference.
