    Unhappy How do I get windows recognised drivers for voodoo3000?

    Hello--I have a voodoo 3 3000 pci and for some reason my drivers come up as not certified yet when I downloaded them it said WHQL beside it. I check this in direct x 8 and my soundblaster pci64 also comes up as uncertified. Whats going on?

    Even though the drivers say they aren't certified, they should still work. However, try the windrivers.com driver site.

    Personally I would not bother with certified drivers, since it takes times for MS to review the drivers and put their seal of approval on it. By the time that happens, newer drivers may have been released.

    You're probably better off grabbing the latest drivers from the mfgr's site. If you have problems, you can drop back to the certified drivers but even that doesn't guarantee a problem free environment.

    My voodoo3 and sb-live say uncertified too and i'm using whql drivers. No problem though...

    Besides all of that, typically the certified drivers are not the best drivers for performance. My Matrox G400 has the latest driver build--(6.51) which I learned of on this webiste--while the MS Windows update wants me to download 5.20 just because it is certified. That is the version I got on the driver CD that came with my card, and that driver wouldn't work unless my computer was in safe mode
    Don't fret over the certification thing, though. 3dfx is (or was) very good about compatibility with Windows.
