Having a driver not certified by microsoft will not cause a problem. However, You can do a search for 3dfx on the windrivers.com main page and find the latest referrance drivers for your card. There is probably two drivers, the certified and non certified drivers.

Having a non-certified driver isn't in and of itself a problem, but using a beta driver might be. DX8 could also be what ails you. Make sure you're running DX8a, the newer rev, since M$ never seems to do anything right the first time.

What game and some system specs please. I may be able to help you.
I would recommend trying the WHWL 1.04.00 drivers as the betas were for the HSR testing. They are seriously beta in some respects. If the WHQL drivers don't work then try the x3dfx drivers at www.x3dfx.com
It would sure help to know what game it was too. Good luck!!!
