Problems with ATI 3D Rage II+ chip set and DirectX 6.1

I am having problems with my ATI 3D Rage II+ chip set that is built into my motherboard. I have the problems only when trying to play certain games. One of the games is Worms Armageddon. What happens is I run the exe file and the screen flickers black then goes back to the desktop. I am running windows 95 using the drivers coded w84528 which is the newest for the chipset. When I go into the DX 6.1 Diag I find that some of the display driver files are betas but they are supposed to be the final retail drivers. The motherboard came with my computer which is an Acer Aspire. These drivers are the only DX 6 compatable drivers that I could find from ATI. The support team for Worms Armageddon told me that it is this the root of my problems and that I should upgrade to the final retail drivers for my chip set. Thing is, I don't know of any newer drivers that could fix this beta driver to final driver problem since, as I already stated, I have the newest version of the drivers. If anyone knows of a way to fix this or where to get drivers that have this fix please let me know. Thanks ahead of time.

Try installing the DirectX final release driver! The original DX6.1 that most people got is a beta that expires and can cause strange behaviour!
I had a similar problem with a Matrox Mystique + Canopus Voodoo 1, this was resolved by changing my motherboard to a later release with a newer version bios!

Thanks for the info but I have already tried the Direct X fix you mentioned and that didn't help. I also have a Voodoo 2 card but I haven't had any problems like this with it. What I think is so strange is that it only does this with certain 2d games. To bad they are the 2d games I wanted to try though. Oh well. Thanks again for trying to help. If anyone else knows of another fix please let me know.
