Windows 98, Scanner, USB port and Safe Mode--HELP
We have an Acer computer in which we loaded the Windows 98 upgrade onto. Two weeks later we got a BearPaw 1200 Scanner by Mustek. We did not have a Scanner port so we installed a USB port. Everything was going okay until windows asked for the CD-Rom then after putting in the CD the computer went into safe mode. If we take out the port the computer will not go into safe mode. Please help!! I really want to be able to scan some baby pictures into e-mail. Thanks

Need more info:
Q: We did not have a Scanner port so we installed a USB port.
A: Not really such a thing as a scanner port. Scanners use one of three "ports" Parallel, SCSI, or USB.
Q: Everything was going okay until windows asked for the CD-Rom then after putting in the CD the computer went into safe mode.
A: Was the installer asking for the cd that came with the scanner or for your Win95/98 cd? I ask becaue I need to know if you got the USB port installed correctly before hooking up the scanner. Did 98 find the USB ok and install a driver for it?
Just need a little more info before we can help you
