    Run SFC, and extract Kernel32.dll from the Windows CD.

    Thumbs down

    Unfortunately, your advice did not work. I have almost the exact same problem. My error messages look like this:

    IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
    module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bffc05fb.
    Registers:
    EAX=00550018 CS=0167 EIP=bffc05fb EFLGS=00010282
    EBX=0058ff78 SS=016f ESP=00550000 EBP=0058ff88
    ECX=00000000 DS=016f ESI=00000000 FS=4477
    EDX=bff76855 ES=016f EDI=bff79198 GS=0000
    Bytes at CS:EIP:
    ff 54 8f 04 5d 5e 8b 5d 0c 0b c0 74 33 78 3c 8b
    Stack dump:
    00550020 00000000 00550020 005500f0 849bcf04 0058ff78 005500f0 0055010c 00550044 bff76849 005500f0 0058ff78 0055010c 005500c8 00550488 bff76855

    However, the problem is not a corrupt Kernel32.dll, as I have restored this file multiple times. I have had this problem on Win98 and Win98SE. I have also searched the knowledge base and come up with no solution. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    Have a bo peep in Windows/System for a Advert.dll.
    If it is there, Rename the file to Advert.old and restart your computer.
    Let us know if it is there, and if it helps.
    HIH,cheers.

    Hey, it was there. I'm not too happy about it being there, since it's some sort of ad thing from a 3rd party company. What the hell is it doing there?!?! Anyway, I renamed it, but haven't restarted yet. I'll let you know if it works.
