[RESOLVED] lost thumbnails
I deleted a program (MGI PHotosuite) and now I lost my ability to view thumbnails in Win/98. I reinstalled Photosuite but that didn't help. I can still view Jpeg's, but I have to double click on them. Would really like to be able to see thumbnails. Makes updating websites much easier. I already made sure that "view as web page" is checked. When I single click on bitmaps, however, they still appear as thumbnails. Any ideas? Using Win98.

Does you computer ask you to "associate the file type" if you double click on it? If so, you can open MS Explorer, go to View, Folder Options, and File Types. The choose an application that supports the file you are trying to open. Example... JPEG files can be opened in Microsoft's Internet Explorer. So if associated *.JPG with IE, overtime you go to open a *.JPG file, Microsoft IE would open it up and run and then display the image.

If you have MS Internet Explorer 4:
Boot to the Command prompt, type CD \Windows\System, and hit Enter. Now type regsvr32 /i
shdocvw.dll. Then reboot and your thumbnail preview should be restored.
If you have MS Internet Explorer 5:
Boot to the Command prompt, type CD \Windows\System, and hit Enter. Now type
regsvr32.exe /i shdoc401.dll. Then reboot and your thumbnail preview should be restored.
