Time Problems

I have recently installed win98 on a dells and digitals desktop computers. These system stay on all the time, one day i noticed the clock on the task bar running slow. If i shut down (power off) and restart the systems the time is ok again, i did not have to adjust the time in cmos. it seems as if it is only the software clock that runs slow. The longer i leave the system on the more time the clock looses.
