lost cdrom in windows 98

While running win98, I tried to install some software from cd. The computer locked up during 'autoplay', so I rebooted. When win98 came back up, the cdrom was gone. I installed the 16bit dos driver which works, but the 32bit win98 driver is gone and the cdrom does not show up in device manager. Any ideas how to get it back? I'm using a Houston Technologies TXPro motherboard with a Cyrix MII 233 and 32mb of SDRAM. The computer has been running great so far for over a year. Everything else runs fine.
