[RESOLVED] HELP!!! a virus!!!(X.EXE >:())
Hi, i need all the help I can get. I think there's a virus on my computer, but im not sure. The problem happened this morning. When I booted up my computer, while in DOS mode, a line in DOS appeared:
C:\WIN98\X.EXE
This program cannot be run in DOS mode.
--and then this message repeats itself all over and all over again. Non-stop.
It then got frustrating, so I forced into DOS mode and pulled the annoyance out myself by deleting the file, X.exe.
After, I booted once more if the problem would resolve. The message came up again, only instead of "cannot be run in does mode," it says "bad command or file name" repeadetly. For a couple of seconds it beeps and returns to the windows 98 startup screen. Everything safely boots up and runs windows perfectly. I just want to know how to take this sucker out once and for all. Can anyone please respond to my plea? Thanks!!!!

You could try running a virus scanner with updated definitions but that my not be what it is.
Maybe someone knows more and will post...

Have you checked your autoexec.bat file to see if this line is listed? If so delete it.
