How much of your hard disk is occupied right now? Is it partitioned in any way? Do you run maintenance wizard frequently? Are you using a deletion application, such as BC Wipe? What application(s) are you using when it is slow? Does your motherboard consist of onboard chips? What is the size of the power supply?

Check your performance under system properties. Make sure you are not haveing any compatiblity mode issues. I've seen computers slow down greatly if they are running in compatiblity mode.

How about running msconfig, and taking about 15 icons off the taskbar?
