Exclamation Problems after installing Mcafee Office 2000 on Win98SE

I have a DVD-Rom installed in my computer that functioned perfectly fine until I installed Mcafee Office 2000. After installing the software mentioned above, I cannot use my DVD software anymore. Each time that I attempt to run my DVD software, it hangs my system, or I get a blue screen of death stating that a VxD error occured in something called CCAD??
I reinstalled the DVD software, tried a different piece of DVD software (which by the way wouldn't even install (crashed every time)), UNINSTALLED Mcafee Office 2000, reinstalled Windows 98 SE, but still it would not fix the problem.

The only option that works is re-formatting my hard drive, and re-installing everything. And after I do that, the DVD works again (if I do not install Mcafee Office 2000!!)

I am stumped by this, and I feel that there must be a fix for this other than formatting my hard drive...

    Can anyone help me out??

I have had problems with McAfee office also. I have found that CrashGaurd and the uninstaller programs really make a mess of windows. The only programs I have installed on the package are the Virusscan, Oil Change(great program) Nuts and Bolts (another great utility program) Try sticking to these. I have also heard rumors of Win98se and some dvd players. I havent seen it yet so I could not tell you if its true.

    Thumbs up

I uninstalled Mcafee Office again, got the VxD patch for windows 98 from http://www.mcs.net/~revolutn/win98_vxd_fix.htm, installed my dvd software and driver again, then re-installed office 2000 with the exception of uninstaller, and y2k software, and it appears that everything is functioning again.

I think it was the VxD patch that did it.
Patched up the vmm32.vxd file for windows, you can get the patch from the site I mentioned.

    Thanks for the response.

AND I WON'T INSTALL NUTS & BOLTS, OR OIL CHANGE CAUSE THEY HAVE CRASHED MY SYSTEM, ONLY USE UNINSTALLER TO CLEAN REGISTRY, AND THE VIRUSSCAN
    NORTON SUCKS A BIG ONE

GoofBall, you would really let a third party program mess with your registry? How often do you reload windows? How does Nuts&Bolts and oilchange mess with your machine? I have never had a problem with them. I don't let them load a startup or schedule anything either. I guess I want to run my computer myself instead of someone else.

have not had a problem with it and i work on 5 to 10 units a day here and every one get the "tune-up", quickclean, manual regedit, defrag, and scandisk, everyone leaves running faster & less fatal errors, NO RELOADS, reloads are for people that do not understand the os!
