Question Format HD to install Win98

I just got a used laptop and when it boots up it wants to take me through the setup for windows 95 but I want to install windows 98. How do I format the harddrive to install 98 because when I try to install from the win98 cdrom it says it cannot use that setup file to upgrade.
    Help please!!

Boot from the 98 CDrom as you have been doing and instead of selecting option 1 (Setup) select Option 2 (start PC with CDROM support). At the prompt, type in D:\win98\format c: . If D is not your CDROM just amend with correct letter. Then after the Format, simply type in D:\win98\setup to start the setup process.

    Cool

Boot to a C:\ Prompt then rename Win.com Win.wlk and command .com command.wlk then run setup from the Win 98CD. Enjoy!!

This is a small piece of advice relating to older laptops and installing Win98. It is always worth checking the FDISK partition setup on older laptops which were running Win95 as I have found several which when checked contained additional partitions which had never been formatted or correctly setup(i.e. unpartitioned space). By checking I have been able to find an extra gig or two on the older models - you never know.
