    Resolved [RESOLVED] Win95(a) Safe-Mode startup error -

Hi there Guys and gals !

I'm gonna explain it clean and clear :^)
Computer : Dell Latitude XPiCD 150
    OS : Win95 A

Problem : Windows works just fine in normal mode (duh !) but when i access safe mode (Startup-F8) windows loads up during a while and warns me of a corrupted registry and wants to restore its backup copy (*.da0)

I have encoutered this message several times, and windows just went on and fixed the registry and procedded normally (Safe and normal)

But this particular Case here - I Have to get into safe mode and each and everytime windows just wants me to retore registry+reboot, again and again.

Conclusion : I have no way of booting into safe mode

    Things tried so far :
    -Regclean, rgcln
-Manually removing the *.da0 (i'd backup of course)
-regedit /c or /e From DOS prompt(i'm not quite sure what each and every switch means, but they both tell me they can't access the registry properly, therefore quitting right away, one of them restoring the da0.
-Replacing the memory , Microsoft has an article that suggests this very error message is related to faulty memory corrupting the registry AS it loads into memory, their solution being the previous attempt (/c or /e)

I haven't been able to find any more documents on the subject.

Does anyone have a clue ???

    Thanks everybody !!!

Did you add or change the Memory?

I have seen this, where the Memory modual had problems, I have also seen this after a generic memory sticks where installed.

Have you done a surface scan on the HD to check for bad blocks?

Replacing the inboard 16Mb of memory is unthinkable, but i've replaced the extra 16Mo chip, without any succes, surface scan does not show anything abnormal... this must be an ou-of-this-world problem :^)

    Any suggestions ?

I have seen this before and it was an easy fix...'cept I can't remember what the heck it was. I looked and I can't find it...yet! If you need a work around to get into windows you can double click on the desktop anywhere other than the warning window and launch explorer.exe from the task manager.
