Sounds like a DNS problem. Make sure you have your DNS servers listed in your dialup connectoid.
Go into My Computer, Dial-up Networking. Right click your connectoid, click properties. Click the Server Types tab along the top. Click the TCP/Ip settings button on the bottom-right. Check to make sure that "Specify Name Server Addresses is checked". Then verify that the DNS servers listed are the ones for your ISP. If anything differs, call your ISP's tech support and ask for their DNS servers.
It could also be a corrupt TCP/IP stack. Your ISP tech support should be willing to walk you through reinstalling it for you. It's a common issue. JUst make sure you have your Windows CD handy, or at least the cabs on your HD.
Good luck.

i just had this same problem today.,....
assuming that everything is setup correctly:
this is what worked for me:
go to add/remove programs and remove dial up networking, then reinstall it.....
that worked for the problem i had today, but in the past it was because of multiple wsock32 files.... (make sure that there is only one of these and that it is in your c:\windows\system directory and that it is the correct version.

can you ping IP addresses?
(At a command prompt type: ping 63.146.109.215)
If you can, then try to ping a name (ping wwww.windrivers.com)
If you can ping actual IP's but not names, it is definitely a DNS problem. If you can't ping either, yank out dial-up networking as mentioned above!

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO TODAY?......Not that it matters, because Micrsoft will crash on the way there!!!
