[RESOLVED] Office 97 & Win 98 incompatible?
I've recently installed win 98, and then office 97pro sr-1. For some resaon which i'd be keen to discover, access wont work at all saying it is unlicenced on this machine, powerpoint says it's uninstalled with a unknown user however it works, and word reports no user or product ID, yet excell says it's licenced to me with the correct ID.
Also ODBC drivers are different versions preventing visual basic working.
Is office 97 incompatible with win 98? or are there other problems I'm missing?

Sure I`ve seen a reply that indicated either a corrupt file or a registry problem can cause this,if you get no response have a browse with the search engine over the last month or two.
Sorry I can`t be more helpful but they should work toghether alright as long as all the patches are installed to correct Y2K and security issues.

Buzzed,
There is a patch for Windows 98.

I hope this helps. I couldn't find anything on the Power Point or Word errors, Maybe this patch will solve all three ?????

Yeah, I had to do that foolishness with the hatten.ttf yesterday actually. You get the same error when you try to install access97 over top of Office2000. Their steps worked to fix that. As for the others, try downloading SR2 for Office97 http://support.microsoft.com/support...ice/97/SR2.asp
