Post windows 98se problem

I am trying to fix a friends pc, his problem is
when he boots into windows he gets illegal operation box on anything he trys to open, then a registry error and windows will fix and reboot, but on reboot same thing again, I have run scanreg/reatore to no avail, alsodone a full virus scan, it will boot into safe mode with no problem, get the odd blue screen as well, vxd errors, any ideas on a solution appreciated.

I would try different memory. If you want to test the memory here is a good program.

I had a customer with this problem and it turned out to be the SirCam virus. Micro Trend has a fix at www.antivirus.com, I would give this a try since it effects the .exe files. Just a thought. Good Luck

If the problem is not caused by the memory, I would try reinstalling Windows over itself. But check the memory first. That's more like it.
