WIN98 shutdown but reboots instead
Happy B-Day Darren!
Okay,Micron Laptop(transport ZX)256 meg,500 Mhz.When going to shut down it restarts instead.Any qick Ideas would be helpful. I have already did the proper updates and ckecked for updates for the laptop but none pertain to this.Thanks all! Enjoy the weekend!

Go to the Run command and type msconfig. From there I beleive you want the advanced option. Then you should see a checkbox for fast shutdown, un-check it and see what happens.

Yeah it is unchecked, that was one thing I looked for.Hmm Thanks though!

Try forcing apm 1.0 mode in the properties of APM Support and see what happens ... if it works properly, then it is a problem with the power management and you can try removing and reinstalling doing a hw detection of non-p'n'p hw.
Seen this work on many 98 systems.

All is well now. Chosen One had it the closest, as I clicked the check and works fine. Another happy customer and Boss. Thnaks everybody!
